St. Vladimir’s Seminary Now With Power

As many are aware, the ravages of Hurricane Sandy also affected St. Vladimir’s Seminary.  Thankfully, power has now been re-established:

Dear Friends,

I am happy to report that as of a few minutes ago all of our students, faculty and staff on campus have had their power restored.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the alumni who have written to offer their support and prayers for our students, faculty and staff. I would like to make special mention of St Joseph Church (OCA) in Wheaton, Illinois who took a collection this past Sunday for our seminarians and raised over one thousand dollars which will be used to provide a festive community dinner this week, and to Fr Alexis Vinogradov who provided the seminary a generator so that food and other goods in the Germack kitchen would not spoil. Our sincere thanks to Fr Alexis, Fr John Matusiak and the good folks at St Joseph's.

Because we were unsure of power restoration dates the seminary administration had announced at the end of last week that classes would resume on Monday, November 12. We all look forward to getting back to a normal routine.

We continue to pray for all those who have lost life, home, and livelihood in this tragic storm. We especially pray for any of our alumni in the Northeast who have suffered. You are in our prayers.

Yours in Christ,
Protodeacon Joseph Matusiak
