Although our parish does not yet possess a temple (worship building), we do have a local architect (Larry) who serves as the vice-president of our parish council and who does have plans for one when the day arrives. A couple of years ago, Larry gave a very nice presentation concerning Orthodox architecture. Since then, we have had some new members join our parish and it may well be worth asking him to do this again. In the meantime, I thought I would share with us a very nice resource I found online:

It is short and sweet, as blogs are, but nicely written. For those wondering whether there might be other sources, there are. A great one to start with, I think, is The Artistic Unity of the Russian Orthodox Church: Religion, Liturgy, Icons & Architecture by Jane Merriam de Vyver. The book is short and well-written, making it a great introductory piece. You may have to look around a bit for it, though, it seems, as the copies on Amazon are definitely too high in price.
